R&D projects

The Sirocco software is partly developed in the context of the OpenCloudware cooperative project. The OpenCloudware project aims at building an open software engineering platform, for the collaborative development of distributed applications to be deployed on multiple Cloud infrastructures. 

Sirocco will provide a multi-cloud IaaS foundation for the OpenCloudware cloud stack with a tuned interface between the PaaS and IaaS layers. In particular, the OVF format will be used at the PaaS level to model and package multi-VM applications that will be handed down to Sirocco through a unified CIMI programmatic access point.

Cloud Standardization bodies

Sirocco exposes the DMTF Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI)  API 1.0 to provide unified access to multiple clouds. The CIMI standard is produced by the DMTF Cloud Management Working Group (CMWG).
